In an announcement affecting 140,000 vehicles, Toyota has issued three separate safety recalls.

The latest Toyota recall pertains to rear brake, seatbelt, and airbag defects across six Toyota and Lexus models, including:

  • 2025 Toyota Camry
  • 2025 Lexus NX
  • 2024-2025 Lexus RX
  • 2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma
  • 2023 Toyota Corolla (Cross and Cross Hybrids)
  • 2023 Toyota Highlander (and Hybrids)

If you own one of these vehicles, this guide is for you. We will explain the nature of the recalls, how Toyota is addressing them, and the importance of the Toyota Lemon Law in instances when the manufacturer fails to resolve your vehicle’s defects.

Over 100,000 Toyota Tacomas Recalled

106,061 Tacomas from 2024-2025 have been recalled due to an issue with certain models’ brake lines.

  • The Details

Four-wheel drive Tacomas with 17-inch wheels and 16-inch rear brakes are susceptible to brake fluid leaks. As mud and debris accumulate in the wheel drum, they can wear down the brake lines and cause the fluid inside to spill out.

  • Why is This Dangerous?

Leaking brake lines may result in slower stopping times, increasing the risk of collisions in situations when sudden braking is needed.

Toyota Camry and Lexus NX Recall

Approximately 41,000 Toyota Camry, Lexus NX, and Lexus RX vehicles from 2024 to 2025 have been recalled due to issues with second-row seatbelts. In a separate Toyota recall, the manufacturer issued an airbag alert impacting 1,716 vehicles from various models.

  • The Details

Some second-row seatbelts were damaged during the manufacturing of certain 2025 Toyota Camry, 2025 Lexus NX, and 2024-2025 Lexus RX vehicles.

Additionally, 1,700 Toyota and Lexus vehicles were sent off the line with improperly welded steering column spiral cables, resulting in deactivated driver airbags.

  • Why is This Dangerous?

Compromised seatbelts that fail to meet industry strength standards increase the risk of passenger injury during a collision.

Similarly, nonfunctional airbags significantly increase the risk of driver fatality in a crash.

How is Toyota Addressing the Recall?

If you purchased one of the vehicles affected by the Toyota recall, you will receive a formal notice by mail in April. Bring your notice letter to your local Toyota or Lexus dealer, and they will inspect and repair your vehicle free of charge.

How to Find Out If Your Vehicle Was Affected

Safety notices like the latest Lexus, Tacoma, and Camry recall can slip through the cracks. In fact, there are millions of open vehicle recalls in the U.S.

If you own any of the vehicles affected by the 2025 Toyota recall and you don’t receive a recall notice from Toyota, you can reference the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) lookup tool to check if your car was included. You’ll simply need your license plate number and VIN to perform a search.
